The Transcaucasian Republics

Armenia was formerly part of Transcaucasian Russia and became independent after the revolution of 1917. From 1922, stamps of the Transcaucasian Federation were used, until these were superseded by Soviet Issues in 1924. Armenia was resurrected as an independent republic in 1991.

Azerbaijan became independent in 1918 and the Soviet Union invaded the country in 1920. Stamps of the Transcaucasian Federation were used until 1924. Resurrected 1991.

Georgia became independent after the Russian Revolution and subsequently became a Soviet republic in 1921. In 1922, Georgia joined Armenia and Azerbaijan in the Transcaucasian Federation and Soviet stamps were used from 1924. Resurrected 1991.
