Montenegro

Montenegro gained independence as Crna Gora in 1452. Nicholas reigned as prince from 1860-1910 and as king until 1918, when the exiled king was deposed and Montenegro was united with Serbia. Italy occupied the country from 1941 until 1945, when Montenegro became a constituent republic of Yugoslavia. At present, only Serbia and Montenegro remain within the Yugoslav Federation and the Government in Montenegro has indicated a desire for separation from Milosovic's Serbia. Watch this space.
